Convert HEIC photos to JPEG in a checked batch

Your phone saved a HEIC photo, but the application asks for JPEG. Choose a real output format instead of just renaming the file extension. Convert one image or a small batch, then inspect the decoded result before replacing any working copy.

Your next steps

Step by step

  1. 01

    Open the converter

Open Image Converter. The same batch workflow also accepts a single image.

  2. 02

    Choose and inspect the images

Select the photos or load the included synthetic examples. Review format, dimensions and any unsupported-file warning.

  3. 03

    Set format and transparency

Choose JPEG, PNG or WebP and the transparency setting. JPEG uses a solid background.

  4. 04

    Convert and review

Convert the batch and inspect each result, including rotated photos and transparent edges.

  5. 05

    Download the batch

Download the ZIP. Each successful image has a distinct safe filename; unsuccessful files remain listed with their reason.

A concrete example

A rotated HEIC becomes an ordinary portrait JPEG

Before

HEIC · stored 96 × 64 px · rotation metadata

After

JPEG · visible 64 × 96 px · decoded orientation

Measured with the synthetic rotation example. The batch also checks alpha preservation and distinct filenames for identically named sources. These tiny examples verify behavior, not a promised compression ratio.

Understand the details

Orientation and transparent pixels

The included HEIC rotation example contains 96 × 64 stored pixels and displays at 64 × 96 after decoding its orientation. The exported image is built in that visible orientation. Check portrait and landscape examples in your own batch.

The transparent PNG example has a transparent lower-left region. In the checked batch it remains transparent in PNG and WebP when alpha is preserved. JPEG instead contains white pixels there. A preview against a white page alone cannot prove that transparency remains.

What a pixel export leaves behind

New files are rebuilt from decoded 8-bit sRGB canvas pixels. Original EXIF, GPS and XMP metadata is not copied; a browser may add its own sRGB profile. This workflow does not preserve HDR or guarantee the original camera color profile.

HEIC decoding runs locally. AVIF decoding and output encoders depend on actual browser support. Animated images, sequences and multiple primary images are rejected rather than silently reduced to an arbitrary frame.

A bounded batch

Use at most ten images, 10 MiB per image and 50 MiB combined. Every image must fit 20 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Processing can be cancelled; a cancelled job does not later produce a download.

The downloaded ZIP contains new copies; your originals are not replaced or deleted. Compare the actual dimensions and appearance, then open representative files in the application where you plan to use them. This private workspace opens in a separate document without advertising scripts.
